Projektile tõmmati joon alla Türgis

Erasmus+ projekti Go For Literacy to Enlighten Your Future viimane kohtumine toimus maikuu alguses Hatays, Türgis. Võõrustajaks oli Necmi Asfuroglu Anadoulu Lisesi kool.

Kohtumisest võtsid osa partnerid Hispaaniast, Prantsusmaalt ja Eestist. Kahjuks ei osalenud seekordsel kohtumisel sõbrad Saksamaalt. Põhjuseks pingeline olukord kahe maa vahel.

Nii nagu viimasele kohtumisele kohane, käidi koosolekutel läbi kaheaastane teekond, kuhu mahtus arvukalt tegevusi ja kohtumisi nii õpilaste kui õpetajatega. Projekt oli tõesti tegevusterohke. Kuna tegemist on õpilaste kirjaoskuse parandamisega, siis mahtusid sinna kirjandusteosed, juttude koostamine ja kirjutamine, erinevate metoodikate jagamine ja võrdlemine. Koostati neli erinevate osaoskuste käsiraamatut. Viidi läbi mitmeid küsitlusi ja võrreldi neid omavahel. Kõik partnerid leidsid, et projekti eesmärk täideti ja projekti tulemustega võib rahule jääda. Paljud omandatud kogemused on rakendunud partnerkoolide igapäevasesse õppeprotsessi.

Peale Türgi kooliga tutvumist said osalised ülevaate ka Türgi haridussüsteemist, kohtuti linnapea ja haridusjuhiga. Külastati paljusid ajaloolisi ja kultuuriliselt olulisi paiku ning maitsti Türgi vürstkaid toite. Meeleolukaks kujunes viimane õhtu -  koolipidu, mis oli seotud viimase klassi lõpukellaga.

Kohtumisel osalesid õp Ingrid Lilles ja Kersti Rohtmets.

Lahkudes sooviti koostööd jätkata ja loodeti, et sõprussidemed kestavad. Nüüd seisab kõigil ees lõpparuande koostamine ja kirjutamine.

Mother Tongue Week at Paikuse

Mother Tongue Day, which marks the birthday of Kristjan Jaak Peterson on March 14, one of the founding fathers of Estonian poetic tradition, was first recognized as a national holiday in 1999. It is now celebrated not only in Estonia but in many Estonian Houses, schools and universities all around the world.

Hundreds of larger and smaller events are held in Estonia and abroad to mark the occasion, including a traditional dictation in ERR's Vikerraadio.

The Mother Tongue Day events in our school.
On Tuesday there was a wordsearch competition . Two members from each class could participate in the competition.
On Wednesday there was a Võro language lecture. 

Võro (Võro: võro kiilʼ [ˈvɤro kʲiːlʲ], Estonian: võru keel) is a language belonging to the Finnic branch of the Uralic languages. Traditionally, it has been considered a dialect of the South Estonian dialect group of the Estonian language, but nowadays it has its own literary standard and is in search of official recognition as an autochthonous regional language of Estonia. Võro has roughly 75,000 speakers (Võros) mostly in southeastern Estonia, in the eight parishes of the historical Võru County.  These parishes are currently centred (due to redistricting) in Võru and Põlva counties, with parts extending into Valga and Tartu counties. Speakers can also be found in the towns of Tallinn and Tartu and the rest of Estonia.

A Blind Date with a Book it gives a great chance to find new friends. As the book is wrapped, you cannot be influenced by the book cover design or the synopsis on the back of the book.

The rules are simple:

• Take it home.
• Unwrap it at home.
• You can be disappointed as well if you already know the story or it is not your taste.
• You can bring it back and choose another book.

Kirjanik käis külas

Paikuse Põhikooli 4.-6. kl. õpilastel oli suurepärane võimalus kohtuda lastekirjanik Mika Keräneniga. Kohtumisel sai selgeks, miks, millal ja kuidas Mika kirjanikuks hakkas ning millal on lootust uue raamatu ilmumiseks.

Our students had a great meeting with Mika Keränen on 7 February. 

Mika Keränen (1973) is a phenomenon. Ethnically Finnish, the Tartu-dwelling Keränen has become one of the most popular children’s authors writing in Estonian. Keränen’s career took off in 2008 with his book Varastatud oranž jalgratas (The Stolen Orange Bicycle) that launched a popular series. It centres on the secret children’s society Ramps in the romantic slum of Supilinn in Tartu, and in every book, its members come across a criminal affair that they will then go on to tackle. Varastatud oranž jalgratas was followed by Peidetud hõbedane aardelaegas (The Hidden Silver Treasure Chest) in 2009, where the members of Ramps are searching for a treasure buried in the Tartu Botanical Gardens during the Second World War. The book won the children’s book award of the Estonian Cultural Endowment in 2010. In 2015, the film Supilinna salaselts (Secret Society of Souptown), based on Keränen’s books, was released. By now, Keränen’s heros have reached a ninth book, the Fantoomrattur (Phantom Cyclist) published in 2017, where the events are set in motion by a thief on a bicycle who pinches the purse belonging to the mother of Mari, one of the most important members of Ramps.

December at Paikuse

December at Paikuse has been really busy. Lots of different activities, events and celebrations have taken place. Here you can read about some of them.

• The charity campaign "A Book to the School Library" ended before Christmas. Thanks to the campaign there are twenty-two new books to read in the library. "Thank you the classes that took part in the campaign. All together we did someting good, " said the librarian.

• The last schoolday before Christamas holiday was a bit different: the students from classes 2-6 went to the cinema to watch a new Estonian film "Eia jõulud Tondikakul" ("Eia's Christmas at Tondikaku"). The film was about a 10-year-old girl Eia who was sent to the mysterious country cottage in the forest to spend her winter holidays. The students liked the film very much, the plot was touching, the nature scenes were facinating. The film makers reminded us simple things that we tend to forget in our busy everyday life. 

• Our primary school students were at the theatre at the beginning of December. There was a new play called "Doctor Dolittle" at Pärnu Endla. Doctor John Dolittle is the central character of a series of children's books by Hugh Lofting starting with the 1920 The Story of Doctor Dolittle. He is a doctor who shuns human patients in favour of animals, with whom he can speak in their own languages. He later becomes a naturalist, using his abilities to speak with animals to better understand nature and the history of the world. The play was adventurous with lots of special effects.

• In the morning of 19 December the students from classes 5 to 9 read poems. Thanks to our mother tongue and literature teachers, a nice winter morning was full of poetry and heart-warming feelings. 

Go For Literacy project meeting in Estonia

WELCOME TO ESTONIA!

 24.- 28. septembrini võõrustas Paikuse kool projekti Go for Literacy to Englighten your Future partnerkoolide õpetajaid. Külla oli tulnud 17 õpetajat neljalt maalt- Hispaaniast, Saksamaalt, Türgist ja Prantsusmaalt. Tublide õpilastest giidide juhtimisel tegid külalised ringkäigu koolis ning tutvusid kooli töökorraldusega. Projekti koordinaatori juhtimisel toimusid koosolekud, et analüüsida tehtut ning teha plaane uuteks tegevusteks õpilastega.

 Kuna selleks kohtumiseks olid õpetajad katsetanud kirjutamisstrateegiaid, siis siin oli huvitav erinevate maade õpetajate tegevustega tutvuda ning kogemusi vahetada. Lisaks pandi koostööpartnerid ka ise tegutsema erinevates töötubades- prooviti jõudu tekstisõnumite „tõlkimisega“, „chattimisega“, ühendati kinesteetika ja kirjutamine. Üheks põnevamaks oli õpetajatele kindlasti tutvumine ümberpööratud klassiruumi teooriaga. Nalja ja naeru oli palju, kui filmiti klippe oma maa viisakusväljendite tutvustamiseks. Valmis tänuväärne materjal tundides kasutamiseks. Lisaks meie kooliga tuvumisele külastati Pärnu Kutsehariduskeskust.

Nädal Eestis ei sisaldanud mitte ainult viibimist kooliruumides ja pingelist tööd, vaid ka meie kultuuri tutvustamist. Ei puudunud vastuvõtt Linnavalitsuses ning ekskursioon Pärnu linnas tuvumaks meie vaatamisväärsustega. Reedene päev möödus Tallinnas, kus jalutasime Kadriorus ja tuvusime Kadrioru lossiga, käisime lauluväljakul ning vanalinnas. Meie plaanidesse tegi korrektuure kolmapäeval Eestit tabanud tormituuled, mille tõttu jäi ära reis Kihnu. Selle asemel said partnerid käia Türi Ringhäälingumuuseumis ja salvestada uudisklippe, samuti külastada Paide Ajakeskusest Wittenstein ning tutvuda põhjalikumalt meie ajalooga.

Järgmine Go for Literacy kohtumine toimub märtsis taas Eestis, siis sõidavad külla õpetajad koos õpilastega.
